Tech. Sgt. Stephanie Van Veldhuizen, 547th Intelligence Squadron Central Command Integrated Air Defense Systems NCO in charge, stands by a SA-8 GECKO low altitude surface-to-air missile system Nov. 26 at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. Van Veldhuizen was selected as the Nellis Top III MVP award winner for the month of October.
During the month of September, 2013, she dedicated 72 hours to the successful completion of her Iranian Integrated Air Defense certification culminating in a one hour briefing in which she passed vital tactical adversary intelligence to the 53rd Aggressors. Also during this time Van Veldhuizen filled a Master Sgt. Flight Chief position for 10 days and led 44 DOD members through 13 production requirements. Additionally, she devoted her personal time to provide security for 25,000 people at the Barrett Jackson Fundraiser, which raised $500,000 towards the Wounded Warriors Project.
Van Veldhuizen led seven off-duty Airmen during 64 hours of community service, raising $528 for the 547th Intelligence Squadron Unit Advisory Council. As a leader in the community, she served 850 children and 75 staff members breakfast with Chefs for Kids and also worked with Three Square to inspect, sort and package eight pallets of dry goods and produce for distribution throughout Las Vegas.
Lastly, she volunteered as project coordinator for the 57th Wing National Disability Employment Awareness Month, where she lead three meetings, coordinated with four community organizations and secured the donations of $500 of goods for the upcoming Awareness 5-kilmoeter run.
